The direct recruitment selection process for filling vacant Kotwal posts across Maharashtra is being conducted in 2026. The Maharashtra Kotwal syllabus and selection procedure for this recruitment will remain the same as prescribed in the 2023 Kotwal Recruitment advertisement. The syllabus will be common across the entire state of Maharashtra, ensuring a uniform examination standard for all candidates. The selection process will consist of a single written examination carrying 100 marks, with 50 objective multiple-choice questions, each carrying 2 marks. The exam duration will be 1 hour or 1 hour 30 minutes, depending on the district. The question paper will be based on simple and basic knowledge up to the 4th standard level, and candidates will be selected solely on the basis of their performance and marks obtained in the written examination. राज्यातील महसूल विभागाच्या अखत्यारीत कार्यरत असलेला कोतवाल संवर्ग हा अवर्गीकृत मानधन तत्वावरील पद असून शासकीय कर्मचारी नाही. कोतवाल संवर्गाकरीता दिनांक ०७ मे, १९५९ च्या शासन निर्णयान्वये स्वतंत्र सेवाप्रवेश नियम विहित करण्यात आलेले आहेत. तसेच कोतवाल संवर्गाची पदे भरतांना राज्यात सर्व ठिकाणी समानता येण्यासाठी महसूल व वन विभागाच्या दिनांक ०५ सप्टेंबर, २०१३ च्या शासन निर्णयान्वये सुधारीत नियम व मार्गदर्शक सूचना निर्गमित करण्यात आलेल्या आहेत. तथापि, आता शासनाने भूतपूर्व दुय्यम सेवा निवड मंडळाच्या कक्षेतील नामनिर्देशनाच्या कोट्यातील पदे भरतांना मौखिक परीक्षा / मुलाखत न घेण्याबाबतचे धोरण ठरविले आहे. तसेच शासनाने सरळसेवा भरतीसाठी नामनिर्देशनाव्दारे पदभरती करताना वेळोवेळी सुधारित केलेल्या बिंदुनामावलीची अंमलबजावणी व आरक्षण कायद्यातील तरतुदींचे पालन करणे आवश्यक आहे. सबब, सदरच्या बाबी विचारात घेता, कोतवाल संवर्गाच्या पदभरतीसंदर्भात महसूल व वन विभागाच्या दिनांक ०५ सप्टेंबर, २०१३ च्या शासन निर्णयातील सुधारित नियम व मार्गदर्शक तत्वांमधील अनुक्रमांक (४) व (५) मध्ये योग्य त्या सुधारणा करण्याची बाब शासनाच्या विचाराधीन होती. त्यास अनुसरुन शासन पुढीलप्रमाणे निर्णय घेत आहे. . ३० एप्रिल २०२६ रोजी रिक्त असलेल्या एकूण दोन हजार नऊशे ब्याण्णव पदांची भरती प्रक्रिया तातडीने राबविण्याचे निर्देश महसूल व वन विभागाने सर्व जिल्हाधिकाऱ्यांना दिले आहेत
