IIT KanpurIIT Kanpur Admission 2021-22 Session – The application form is available for 23 March 2021 to 15 April 2021 session at iitk.ac.in. Candidates who have completed their U.G/P.G degree may apply now for admission to M Tech & PhD (ENGINEERING), MS (BY RESEARCH), PhD (SCIENCES), PhD (HUMANITIES & SOCIAL SCIENCES) DIIT Programmes. The last date to submit the application form till April 15, 2021. Admissions are granted based on the academic record and the performance of the candidates in the interview and/or test. Online Application Procedure:The online applications portal (for Indian Nationals only) will be available from 23/03/2021 up to 15/04/2021 (11:59 PM). Indian Nationals can apply only through online mode of application. The last date for receiving applications in both offline and online modes is 15/04/2021 (11:59 PM).

Indian Candidates: 

(i) Reservations [EWS/SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/DAP] shall apply as per Government of India (GoI) norms.

(iii) Students who are in final year of their programme (likely to finish the program by July 15, 2021) may also apply and secure provisional admission for the session commencing in July, 2021 (2021-22-I Semester).

(iv) Financial support (Institute Assistantship/Scholarship) will be provided to non-sponsored PhD, MTech and MS (By Research) students.

Application Procedure:  

  • The online applications portal (for Indian Nationals only) will be available from 23/03/2021 up to 15/04/2021 (11:59 PM).
  • Indian Nationals can apply only through online mode of application. Foreign Nationals can apply only through offline mode. The last date for receiving applications in both offline and online modes is 15/04/2021 (11:59 PM).

  • PhD applicants must arrange for two letters of reference as well. For this purpose, the names of the referees along with their e-mail addresses are to be provided by the candidate at the online applications portal. The referees will be contacted electronically through an auto generated mail with a request to submit their recommendations online.
  • MTech Admissions: All the admission offers to GATE qualified-candidates will be displayed on the Common Offer AcceptancePortal (COAP). Candidates must register at the COAP portal for viewing and accepting their offers. Registration on COAP portal is free. Candidates are advised to download COAP 2021 information brochure and follow the guidelines (https://coap.iitd.ac.in) for participation. For these candidates, COAP Registration number is mandatory for applying at the IIT Kanpur Admission Portal. The offers to candidates who have not qualified GATE will be communicated directly to the candidates by the department via E-mail.
  • The application fee is Rs.500 for General, EWS, OBC and OBC-NCL candidates and Rs.250 for SC/ST and all DAP candidates. The application fee is waived for candidates in the ‘Foreign National’ category.
  • Separate application form is to be filled for each programme.

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India examination administered and conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (Shiksha Mantralaya), Government of India.The GATE committee, which comprises of representatives from the administering institutes, is the sole authority for regulating the examination and declaring the results.GATE is conducted through the constitution of eight zones.
Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM)
Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) is an all-India examination conducted across the country jointly by Indian Institutes of Technology and Indian Institute of Science. JAM is an all India Entrance examination for admission to M.Sc. (Two Year), Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree and other Post-Bachelor’s Degree programmes at the IITs and to the Integrated Ph.D. programmes at IISc.
