DRDO RAC Scientist `B’ Exam Details And Selection Process : RAC invites online applications from post graduates in Science subjects (M.Sc), Psychology, and from graduate engineers in Bio-Medical Engg through RAC website https://rac.gov.in for recruitment to the posts of Scientist `B’ in Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO) and to the encadred posts of Scientist `B’ in the Indian Armed Services in Level-10 (7th CPC) of the Pay Matrix (Rs.56,100/-) in specified disciplines and categories. Total emoluments (inclusive of HRA and all other allowances) at the time of joining will be approximately Rs.88,000/- p.m. at the present metro city rate. Exam is schedule on 4th June 2023. DRDO CRAT Exam Pattern 2023

DETAILS OF COMMON RESEARCH APTITUDE TEST (CRAT)
i) The Common Research Aptitude Test (CRAT) will be generic in nature, designed to assess the research and analytical abilities of candidates. The test paper will be of 300 marks and will consist of 150 Multiple Choice Questions (each question carrying 2 marks). There will be a deduction of 0.5 mark for a wrong answer and the total time limit would be two hours. The syllabus of the CRAT will be downloadable from RAC website. The examination will be administered in a computer based mode.
ii) Tentatively, the CRAT will be conducted at Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Kolkata, and Pune centres, if the need arises. Candidates are required to indicate their first and second preference of examination centre in the online application from among the listed centres. However, RAC reserves the right to allot any centre as per its administrative convenience.
iii) The CRAT is likely to be held in January/February 2023.

DETAILS OF SUBJECT SPECIFIC EXAMINATION
i) The Subject Specific Examination (SSE) will be of two hours duration. The question paper will be of a total of 300 marks, and will consist of Multiple Choice Questions. The number of questions may vary from 100 to 150. There will be a deduction of 25% of the total marks for a wrong answer. The syllabus of the Descriptive Subject Specific Examination (downloadable from RAC website) is similar to the Civil Services examination (Main) in the relevant discipline conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The examination will be administered in a computer based mode.
ii) Tentatively, the SSE will be conducted at Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Kolkata, and Pune centres as well as at other common centres, if the need arises. Candidates are required to indicate their first and second preference of examination centre in the online application from among the listed centres. However, RAC reserves the right to allot any centre as per its administrative convenience.

DRDO SELECTION PROCESS

i) The shortlisted candidates on the basis of the GATE scores (in Part-I disciplines) or SSE scores (in Part-II and Part-III disciplines) will be required to appear in the Personal Interview to be held at Delhi or any other place as decided by RAC/ DRDO.
ii) The offer of appointment to the selected candidates will be restricted to the number of vacancies in order of merit. The appointment, however, will be subject to satisfying conditions like qualifying the Medical Examination prescribed for Group ‘A’ Technical posts of Govt. of India with Field Service liability and verification of character antecedents besides verification of PwD/SC/ST/OBC/EWS certificate etc, wherever applicable.
iii) Final result (customised for individual candidate) will be made available at RAC website (https://rac.gov.in).

SCREENING/ SHORTLISTING For DRDO RAC Scientist `B’ Exam 2022

(i) Category I: Eligible candidates will be shortlisted for a Subject Specific Examination (SSE) in Psychology on the basis of valid GATE score in the ratio of 1:25 subject to their availability in order of category‐wise merit list.

                                            AND

Category II: Eligible candidates will be shortlisted for a Subject Specific Examination (SSE) in Psychology on the basis of aggregate percentage of marks in the NET in the ratio of 1:25 subject to their availability in order of category‐wise merit list.

This implies that the number of candidates shortlisted for SSE will be in the ratio of 1:50.

(ii) Candidates who appear for the SSE will be further shortlisted for Personal Interview in the ratio of 1:5 in order of merit list prepared on the basis of the SSE only.

(iii) Information regarding the shortlisted candidates will be made available at RAC website.

SELECTION CRITERIA  –DRDO RAC Scientist `B’ MCQ Exam 2023

i) The final selection of the candidates will be purely on the basis of category‐wise merit of aggregate of 80% weightage of marks in the Subject Specific Examination (SSE) and 20% weightage of marks in Personal Interview.

ii)Only those candidates securing minimum qualifying marks of 70% (for UR category) and 60% (for EWS/OBC/SC/ST category) in the Personal Interview will be considered for preparation of final merit list. Candidates who do not qualify the interview will not be considered for final selection irrespective of their score in the SSE.

iii) In addition to the above, any other selection tool/test may be administered, at the sole discretion of RAC.
