Under the Janani Suraksha Yojana, the government provides financial assistance of Rs.3400 to poor and economically weaker section women. This scheme is implemented to promote safe delivery among poor pregnant women. In this, the central government provides financial assistance to pregnant women. Below poverty line women can avail this scheme. JSY is a centrally sponsored scheme, which integrates cash assistance with delivery and post-delivery care. The JSY Yojana has identified Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) as an effective link between the government and pregnant women. JananiSurakshaYojana (JSY) is a safe motherhood intervention under the National Health Mission.

The scheme, launched on 12 April 2005 by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, is under implementation in all states and Union Territories (UTs), with a special focus on Low Performing States (LPS).

Cash Assistance for Institutional Delivery (in Rs)

The cash entitlement for different categories of mothers is as follows:

*ASHA package of Rs. 600 in rural areas include Rs. 300 for ANC component and Rs. 300 for facilitating institutional delivery.

**ASHA package of Rs. 400 in urban areas include Rs. 200 for ANC component and Rs. 200 for facilitating institutional delivery.

Eligibility for JSY

1. LPS All pregnant women delivering in government health centres, such as Sub Centers (SCs)/Primary Health Centers (PHCs)/Community Health Centers (CHCs)/First Referral Units (FRUs)/general wards of district or state hospitals
2. HPS All BPL/Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) women delivering in a government health centre, such as SC/PHC/CHC/FRU/general wards of district or state hospital
3. LPS & HPS BPL/SC/ST women in accredited private institutions

‘या’ योजनेचा लाभ कोणाला मिळतो ?

1. या योजनेचा लाभ घेण्यासाठी गर्भवती महिलांची (Women) प्रसूती शासकीय रुग्णालयात किंवा मान्यताप्राप्त खासगी रुग्णालयात होणे आवश्यक आहे. सरकारने दिलेली रक्कम थेट लाभार्थ्यांच्या बँक खात्यात पाठवली जाते. त्यामुळे गरोदर महिलांचे बँक खाते असणे बंधनकारक असून बँक खातेही आधार कार्डशी लिंक करणे आवश्यक आहे.
2. जर तुम्ही दारिद्र्यरेषेखालील ग्रामीण भागात राहत असाल तर तुम्हाला 1,400 रुपयांची आर्थिक मदत मिळेल. यासह, आशा सहयोगींसाठी आणि अतिरिक्त सेवेसाठी 300 रुपये दिले जातात. एकूणच ग्रामीण भागात राहणाऱ्या महिलांना दोन हजार रुपयांची आर्थिक मदत मिळते. दुसरीकडे, शहरी भागात राहणाऱ्या महिलांना प्रसूतीसाठी एकूण 1,000 रुपयांची आर्थिक मदत मिळते. यासोबतच अशा सहकार्‍याला 200 रुपये फी आणि अतिरिक्त मदतीसाठी 200 रुपये दिले जातात.
