SELECTION PROCEDURE For SBI PO Exam 2025
Selection criteria for Main Examination: Category wise merit list will be drawn on the basis of the aggregate marks scored in the Preliminary Examination. There will be no sectional cut-off. Candidates numbering 10 times (approx.) the numbers of vacancies in each category will be short listed for Main Examination from the top of above merit list
The selection for Probationary Officers will be done through a three-Phase process:

SBI PO Bharti Exam Pattern 2025
From 2022 onward SBI has Changed SBI PO Mains Exam pattern and conduct Psychometric Test For Personality Profiling of those candidates who will be shortlisted for Phase 3.
- Exam Pattern The SBI PO exam is divided into two parts. First Prelims Exam and Second Mains Exam. After the prelims exam, a cut off is issued and the candidate who passes this exam is considered eligible for the main exam. Interview round is given to the candidates who clear the mains exam.
- The prelims exam is divided into three parts English Language, Reasoning Ability and Quantitative Aptitude.
- The total time for the exam is 1 hour. The exam is of total 100 marks and there is negative marking in this exam. 0.25 percent marks will be deducted from the marks obtained for every wrong question.
- For example, if the question is of 4 marks, you will be deducted 1 mark if you answer wrongly.
- The time duration of mains exam is more than prelims. Its time duration is 3.5 hours. This main exam is of total 250 marks.
- Interview i.e. third stage of SBI PO Exam is for 50 marks. In which group exercise is 20 marks and interview is 30 marks.

SBI PO Mains Bharti Exam Pattern 2024
Selection criteria for Main Examination: Category wise merit list will be drawn on the basis of the aggregate marks scored in the Preliminary Examination. There will be no sectional cut-off in preliminary examination. Candidates numbering 10 times (approx.) of the numbers of vacancies in each category will be short listed for Main Examination from the top of above merit list. Phase-II: Main Examination: The Main Examination will be conducted online and will consist of Objective Tests for 200 marks and Descriptive Test for 50 marks. The Descriptive Test will be administered immediately after conclusion of the Objective Test and candidates will have to type their Descriptive Test answers on the computer.

Selection criteria for Phase-III: Category wise merit list will be drawn on the basis of the aggregate marks scored in Phase-II (Main Exam). There will be no sectional cut-off. Candidates numbering up to 3 times (approx.) of the category wise vacancies will be shortlisted for Phase-III from the top of the category wise merit list subject to a candidate scoring the minimum aggregate qualifying score, as decided by the Bank.
About SBI PO Phase-III Exam
Psychometric Test:
The Bank may conduct Psychometric test for personality profiling, of those candidates who will be shortlisted for Phase-III. Finding of the test may be placed before the Interview panel for having a through perspective on the candidates.

The minimum qualifying marks will be decided by the Bank.
Candidates qualifying for Phase-III under ‘OBC’ category would be required to submit OBC certificate containing the ‘Non-Creamy layer’ clause. Candidates who have registered themselves as OBC but do not submit OBC ‘Non-Creamy layer’ certificate and request for interview under General category will not be entertained.
Candidates qualifying for Phase-III under EWS category would be required to submit EWS certificate issued based on gross annual income for the financial year 2021-22 as per DoPT guidelines. Candidates who have registered themselves as EWS but do not submit EWS certificate issued based on gross annual income for the financial year 2021-22 as per DoPT guidelines and request for interview under General category will not be entertained.
SBI PO Final Selection Method
The candidates will have to qualify both in Phase-II and Phase-III separately. The marks obtained in Main Examination (Phase-II), both in the Objective Test and the Descriptive Test, will be added to the marks obtained in Phase-III for preparing the final merit list. The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination (Phase-I) will not be added for preparing the final merit list for selection.
Final Selection Process:
Candidates must qualify separately in both Phase-II (Main Examination) and Phase-III (Group Exercise & Interview) to be considered for final selection. The final merit list will be prepared by adding the marks obtained in Phase-II (Objective and Descriptive Tests) and Phase-III, with the scores normalized to a total of 100 marks.
The Preliminary Examination (Phase-I) marks will not be included in the final merit list calculation. The distribution and normalization of marks are as follows:

The final merit list will be prepared by converting the scores of Phase-II and Phase-III to 100 marks and aggregating them. Candidates will be selected in order of merit, based on their rank in each category.
