Amrut Abhiyan – अमृत पाणी पुरवठा योजना or जल जीवन मिशन योजना Details : Amrut Abhiyan main objective is to improving the living standards of the city dwellers by providing water supply, sewerage, civic transport to the city dwellers, creating civic amenities in the city mainly for the poor people. This Scheme is Announcing the ambitious mission of Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) by the Central Government to improve the living standards of the people, create clean, sustainable and environmentally friendly cities. Purpose of Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT)

  1. Ensure that every household has access to a tap with the assured supply of water and a sewerage connection.
  2. Increase the amenity value of cities by developing greenery and well maintained open spaces (e.g. parks) and
  3. Reduce pollution by switching to public transport or constructing facilities for non-motorized transport (e.g. walking and cycling). All these outcomes are valued by citizens, particularly women, and indicators and standards have been prescribed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA ) in the form of Service Level Benchmarks (SLBs).

Objective of Amrut Abhiyan

  1. Mission Objectives Improving the living standards of the city dwellers by providing water supply, sewerage, civic transport to the city dwellers, creating civic amenities in the city mainly for the poor.
  2. To provide water supply to every house in the city as per prevailing norms, to provide sewerage for city sanitation, sewage management and arrangement of storm water drainage, to reduce pollution by improving open spaces, green areas, city transport system and other facilities. Necessary guidelines regarding implementation of Amrut Abhiyan across the country have been issued on 25-6-2015 by the Ministry of Urban Development, Central Government.
  3. Accordingly, as per the guidelines received from the Central Government, for the implementation of Amrut (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) campaign in the State, the State Government has issued Circular dated 10th August 2015 and Government Resolution dated 13th October 2015.
  4. Duration of the campaign The campaign will be implemented across the country for a period of five years from 2015-16 to 2019-20.
