Eligibility Criteria | Jobs at International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) | ILRI Ethiopia Vacancy

Educational/ Qualification –  1. Research Associate

  • Bachelor’s degree in rangeland management, agriculture, environmental health, environmental hygiene, natural resources, or related fields
  • A minimum of 2 years working experience in field-based projects
  • Experience in implementation of participatory rangeland management (PRM), community-based rangeland management, or similar approaches in rangelands
  • Ability to communicate in the local language of working area will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in report writing including field reports.
  • Proven experience in conducting trainings in a participatory way for different stakeholders (NGOs, government and communities).
  • Good written and spoken English.
  • Computer literacy.

2. Research Associate I

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or related field
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience
  • Knowledgeable in setting up field trials
  • Knowledge of field data collection and labelling entries using a bar code
  • Experience with field data collection, sample processing and archiving
  • An understanding of health and safety in the workplace and good working practices
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Good communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and continually develop skills

3. Research Officer I

  • MSc degree in rangeland management, agriculture, environmental health, environmental hygeine, natural resources, or relevant field.

4. Research Officer I (Animal & Human Health)

  • Masters degree in public health, veterinary science and/or environmental health; or degree/diploma in education with relevant expertise

5. Consultant

  • Masters degree in public health, veterinary science and/or environmental health; or degree/diploma in education with relevant expertise

6. Research Associate II – Germplasm Health

  • Bachelor’s degree or College Diploma in plant pathology, plant science, seed technology
  • Knowledge in relevant field and relevant technical training

7. Research Associate I (IRRI)

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or related field
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience
  • Knowledgeable in setting up field trials

9. Research Associate – Gender

  • MSc in a social science (geography, anthropology, sociology, development studies, economics) with an emphasis on gender/equity aspects
  • Experience in designing, collecting and analysing gender related data.
  • Minimum 5 year experience in similar position
  • Ability to thrive in a multi-cultural professional environment and with minimum supervision
  • Experience working with development partners
  • Familiarity with gender and agriculture system issues and challenges in Vietnam, and in South East Asia is preferred
  • Exposure to livestock system is an advantage
  • Good analytical skills – either qualitative or quantitative
  • Ability to support capacity building on gender for the project teams
  • Capacity to work independently
  • Good interpersonal, facilitation and communication skills
  • Publication record is preferred
  • Ability to work effectively in multi-regional teams and partners with members drawn from a diverse range of nationalities, cultures and scientific disciplines
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to deliver timely high-quality deliverables.
  • Strong analytical and report writing skills
  • Willingness to travel frequently, often to rural areas and spend time in the field
